Q&A
More than eight years ago, we knew we would get married in Medellín.
It is one of our favorite places in Colombia: it was our first travel destination together, the setting for many of our shared experiences, and a place where we have built deep connections with friends and family.
Medellín is also where Saltamontes was born, a fundamental part of our story and our journey.
We love its weather, its landscapes, and above all, the warmth and kindness of its people.
Choosing Medellín to welcome the most important people from the different spheres of our lives allows us to share with them a place that is deeply meaningful to us and that reflects, in many ways, who we are. We cannot imagine a better setting than the City of Eternal Spring.
No matter where you are traveling from, you should arrive at José María Córdova International Airport (MDE), located in Rionegro, just a few minutes from the wedding venue and close to the city of Medellín.
We recommend arriving on Thursday, August 27, 2026, if you would like enough time to enjoy Medellín on Thursday and Friday, and later Llanogrande during our wedding celebrations.
We suggest planning your return for Sunday, August 30, 2026.
In Llanogrande, the main gathering point for guests visiting from out of town will be Hotel Movich Las Lomas in Rionegro. Its proximity to the airport and the celebration venues makes it the most practical option for the wedding night. Hotel Lagoon is also available as an alternative for that evening.
In Medellín, the main meeting point will be Hotel El Cielo. For those wishing to enjoy Medellín, this hotel is well located and close to various restaurants and attractions throughout the city.
At the hotels mentioned above, we have arranged a group rate for our guests. HERE you can find details, booking codes, and recommendations depending on your plans.
The city of Medellín offers many accommodation options, with plenty of alternatives to choose from. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about hotels or the area where you would like to stay!
Our wedding will be a Catholic ceremony held at the church closest to the reception venue.
From there, the celebration will unfold into an evening of great food, joy, music, and meaningful moments shared with family and friends.
The ceremony will take place at Parroquia María Madre de Dios, located near the exit of the tunnel connecting Medellín and Rionegro in the same direction.
The reception will take place at Casa Bali, Zona E, located near José María Córdova Airport and Hotel Movich.
Due to the intimate nature of the celebration, invitations have been extended personally.
If your invitation includes a guest, their name must be provided during your RSVP process. We appreciate your understanding and respect for this consideration.
For both the Ceremony and Celebration, the dress code is Formal.
We would love for our guests to join us in a formal, understated, and elegant aesthetic, in keeping with the solemnity of the ceremony and the celebration that will follow.
HERE you can view our dress code guidelines.
We want every guest to feel comfortable and well cared for throughout the celebration.
During the RSVP process, you will find a section where you can let us know about any allergies or dietary restrictions. We will handle these carefully and in advance.
Medellín is known as the City of Eternal Spring.
During the day, temperatures are usually mild and pleasant, with cool mornings and gentle afternoons. Around midday, temperatures may rise slightly. In the evening, especially in Rionegro, it can get cooler, so we suggest considering an extra layer or jacket for the wedding day.
Rain is possible at any time of the year, although it is usually brief.
Rionegro is located about 30–40 minutes from the city of Medellín.
The two areas are well connected, and getting around between and within them is simple.
To make things easier for our guests visiting from out of town, organized transportation will be provided during key moments of the celebration, particularly between the hotels and event venues.
For guests staying at Movich, transportation between the airport and the hotel is included; guests should contact the hotel upon landing to coordinate pickup.
For individual transportation, we recommend using apps such as Uber, InDrive, or DiDi, which operate reliably in the area. You may also contact us for recommendations of trusted drivers.
Medellín is a vibrant, welcoming city that is widely visited by travelers from around the world. Over the last decade, it has established itself as one of the most visited destinations in Latin America by international tourists.
Colombia as a whole is a diverse country in constant transformation, now welcoming millions of visitors every year, drawn by its cultural richness, geography, and the warmth of its people.
As in any city or country, we recommend maintaining basic awareness of your surroundings and following standard travel practices—particularly regarding personal belongings, nighttime transportation, and the use of reliable transportation services.
With these considerations in mind, visitors usually have a very positive experience and are able to fully enjoy everything Medellín and Colombia have to offer.
The local currency is the Colombian Peso (COP).
Credit and debit cards are widely accepted at most establishments in Medellín and Rionegro. At the same time, we recommend carrying some cash for smaller expenses or smaller businesses.
We recommend withdrawing money directly from a Servibanca ATM upon arriving at the airport; these ATMs usually accept most international debit cards. We do not recommend exchanging money physically at the airport, as exchange rates are generally unfavorable.
You may also consider sending yourself money through Western Union in advance to obtain better exchange rates. If you need to exchange money physically in Colombia, we recommend doing so at exchange offices located inside shopping malls.
We hope our guests approach Medellín and Colombia with curiosity and respect.
Narratives associated with drug trafficking have had a real and painful impact on the country; avoiding romanticizing or treating them lightly is a way of honoring that reality and connecting more authentically with the place that welcomes us.
If—after carefully reading the booking guide and all the information available on this website—you still have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or the wedding planners, who will be delighted to assist you.
